This tour is located 2:30 minutes from the city of Liberia Guanacaste and one hour from Fortuna Arenal. We will move to one of the nine indigenous tribes currently present in our country Costa Rica called "Malekus".
Here we will arrive at this territory in a typical house of the tribe where we will be given an introduction to the Malekus population, their beliefs, traditions, how they fished and hunted animals to feed their families.
They will also give a short explanation of how they used medicinal plants and of course they couldn't miss telling us about their indigenous language. Time is then given to cover questions.
Then we will go to the rainforest to take a walk along the trails learning about medicinal plants where the guide with extensive knowledge will teach us what to do in case of an accident with reptiles, insects or other animals.
Right here, you will have the opportunity to look for possible sightings of fauna in their natural habitat (birds, sloths, monkeys, reptiles, insects and more).
Finishing the walk we will return to have a typical Costa Rican lunch, and then take art classes where they will paint on a "Jìcara" of the (Cucurbitáceae family) one of the large family of pumpkins. An indigenous professor is going to share with us his knowledge of painting native and endemic animals of our country.
Finally we will enjoy a Malekus ceremony, indigenous people dressed in their traditional clothing will play drums, sing in their native language and perform a small prayer based on their beliefs and nature. This will end our cultural tour and return to our place of stay.
